Two years? Never? At NIGELS, it's never too late to get the family together for a family portrait. Family portraits make excellent gifts! And, as a parent, you know how fast the years go by. Before you know it, the years will fly by and chances are your children will be gone. Don't let them leave home without you. At NIGELS, we specialize in creative portraits. We also do children photography, mother-baby portraits, pregnant moms, engaged couples, eagle scouts, family reunions, 50th Wedding Anniversary portraits, and special events at your home, on location, or at our studio. Other photographic services include Publication Photography for press releases, newspapers, and publications, high school prom and dance photography, and custom framing. Let NIGELS shoot your Prom! We create custom backgrounds and sets, offer multiple couple poses, include full-color memory books, and donate cash to your school. We'd love to meet with your dance committee! Call today! Portrait Session Fees Session Fees are charged for the photographer's time, talent, and professional direction to create your unique portrait. Session fees start at $95 and are determined by the size of the group and location of the session. Give us a call - we'd be happy to quote you a session fee. What Shall I Wear? Because your portrait is so very special, you will want to look your best. Here are a few suggestions. General: Simple, plain outfits photograph the best, as they are not distracting. Our aim is to produce a timeless, beautiful portrait of you, and the best way to begin is to remember one word... simplicity. Attention should be directed to you rather than to what you are wearing. In selecting the right clothing to wear for your portrait, first decide whether you want a casual look or one a little more formal. Then, dress accordingly. Women: Dark, solid colors photograph best. A sweater, blouse, or dress with sleeves and a flattering neckline is suitable for both indoor and outdoor portraits. A pants outfit or slacks in earth tones - browns, greens, blues - or solid colors look nice for outdoors. Above all, wear something you like and feel good in. Men: Dress shirts, sweaters, slacks or suits in solid dark colors look best in both indoor and outdoor portraits. Again, earth tones and more casual styles look better outdoors. Remember the objective of your portrait - a beautiful, sensitive portrait which shows the relationship and personalities of all of you together. For this reason, keep the clothing very subtle, but be careful not to dress anyone in an outfit that is not an expression of personality. What you want to avoid is having any one person “jump” out of the portrait because he or she is dressed in a lighter or brighter outfit than everyone else. Work for balance, harmony, and color coordination. Decorating Your Home with Photographic Art With the trend today in interior design toward a more personal individualized look, photographic art is becoming more and more popular. Photography may be the most personal versatile art you can choose to decorate your home or place of business. Because photography helps to stimulate the senses, you can achieve any effect. There are so many ways you can add warmth and personality, vibrancy or quietude to a room with photographic art. A bright and cheerful portrait of a child might perk up a dull hallway. A family portrait collection can surround you with love and a sense of belonging, even when you are home alone. The possibilities are endless. Your family portrait is a priceless investment. A custom wall portrait is the only home decorating idea which will increase in value over the years. Wall portraiture is not only the latest in home decor, it's the most personal. Decorate your home with style... your style... with your very own family portrait. Where Do I Decorate With Photographic Art? Where it can be seen and appreciated! Any wall in any room is an invitation. A large floor-to-ceiling expanse is an ideal focus point for a portrait wall grouping. The living and dining rooms, den, and master and guest bedrooms can be given new life with photographic art that reflects your lifestyle, unique interests, and taste. How Do I Start? Whatever styles and colors you like, photographic art fits right in. There are no hard-and-fast decorating rules for photography. Good taste is all that matters. If you are adding a portrait to a room already decorated, you will want to tailor that portrait, its finish and frame to coordinate with the furnishings. For instance, in a very formal room, you may want a portrait that is formal in style, clothing and mood, a velvet mat and a frame that complements the decor. In a contemporary room, you might prefer to show off one of the new-style informal black-and-white portraits in a contemporary frame. There are so many ways photographic art can be used to enhance your home or place of business. But it all starts with the quality of photography itself. That's why it is so important to settle for nothing less than a professionally created piece of art. At NIGELS, we specialize in photographic art. We can plan a fine portrait of you and your family that will be more than a good likeness - it will be a work of art that captures and portrays a moment in time. At NIGELS, our portraits are created and treated as all art should be, with various custom finishes available to add to the artistic appearance and protection of each portrait. A special lacquer finish protects the portrait and eliminates the need for glass with its undesirable glare. We can even mount your portrait on a fine artist's canvas to give it an authentic oil painting look or print it on special watercolor paper to create an authentic watercolor portrait. If we know where you wish to hang the portrait, we can help you decide how large and what style to make the portrait. And we'll help select a frame that enhances - without overpowering - the image. Come see us today so we can discuss ways in which our photographic talents might enhance your environment. Together we can create something truly beautiful! R. Avoid tank tops and sleeveless attire. (We have a black V-drape for a traditional look, as well as a cap and gown). Be sure to keep your makeup fresh and natural. Guys: Wear a solid colored shirt or sweater.(Do not wear white.)Tie and suit coat are optional. We have a black Tuxedo jacket and a bow tie, as well as a cap and gown (bring your own white shirt and tie for cap and gown poses). A fresh shave is a MUST! If you have a beard or mustache, make sure it's neatly trimmed. Indoor: Bright, solid colors are best for darker backgrounds. Solid pastel colors are best with lighter backgrounds. Avoid stripes, prints, or loud patterns. Tuxedoes, black V-drapes and cap and gown poses are taken in the studio. Outdoor: Wear casual outfits in solid colors-bright colors look great, as well as earth tones - browns, blues, greens, etc. Stay away from all-white and busy patterns (no white T-shirts). Hair: Plan to wear your hair in a style you're comfortable with. Avoid new cuts or styles. Skin Problems: Don't worry if you develop a skin problem. Our finished portraits can be fully retouched to eliminate blemishes and soften harsh lines. Glasses: Problems with glasses can lead to extra retouching charges. We can remove normal glare on glasses, but tinted lenses cannot be lightened--even with artwork. If your glasses are tinted or exceptionally thick, they can distort the way the camera photographs the eye. In this case, you should ask your optometrist for a pair of empty frames to wear for your portrait session. Braces: Can be removed with artwork incurring additional retouching charges. Props: Props are great! They help to create a truly personalized Senior Portrait. Bring hats, scarves, sunglasses, a musical instrument, sports uniform and equipment, a letter or leather jacket, a special pet, even your car (or your dad's). Whatever is YOU! WE HAVE CAPS AND GOWNS, A TRADITIONAL BLACK V-DRAPE FOR THE LADIES, AND A BLACK TUXEDO JACKET AND BOW TIE FOR THE GUYS. YOU BRING THE REST! R.
